    Gym Mats

    Gym Mats

Have you ever tried doing a sit-up on a hard concrete floor? It doesn’t feel good, right? That’s why you need a high-quality gym mat to provide the ultimate comfort during your exercises. At Rubber Flooring 4U, we are proud to provide our customers with the best gym mats online.

    What are Gym Mats?

What do small home gyms and large commercial gyms have in common? They both need protection for their subfloor. And rubber gym floor mats are the perfect solution to keep your floor and your people safe.

Rubber mats can handle everything from floor exercises to heavy dropped weights. And while they provide excellent protection for your floor, their extreme shock absorbency will help keep weights in place when they are dropped, which will help prevent any injuries. They also provide superior traction to help you get the most out of your workout.

At Rubber Flooring 4U, you can customize your gym mat to make sure you get everything you need. From the color, the size, and the thickness, we are sure to have the exact mat you want.

    Gym Mats Material

Not sure if you need to go with a rubber mat or a foam one? Let's take a look at how they are used to find a mat that's perfect for you:

    Rubber Gym Mats

No one wants a floor that will shift and move around them in the middle of a workout, right? Well, you won't have to worry about that with rubber mats because they are slip-resistant, so they will stay in place.

And depending on how thick your mats are, they are tough enough to put up with heavyweights and heavy equipment too.

Another reason it's great to use rubber gym mats for exercise is because they are easy to clean. So, if you have dirt from shoes or even sweat that's dripped onto your mats, just sweep them off and wipe them down to keep them in top shape.

    Foam Gym Mats

These mats work great for a gymnast, tumbler, cheerleader, or wrestler. They provide the soft landing you need when you come crashing down on them.

These mats are designed to be portable too, so you can easily store them away when you're finished using them.

However, one of the downsides to foam mats is that you can't wear heels on them or use any sharp objects because they easily dent or puncture.

    Folding Mats

This is another mat option that is popular for wrestling, it’s also great for tumbling and martial arts too. And the best part? You can easily fold them up and store them or take them with you wherever you need to.

Folding mats provide excellent shock-absorbance and are really easy to clean. These mats are a little tougher than the roll out mats because they aren’t as easily punctured.

Do you need a mat that will keep you comfortable during those difficult floor workouts? Then a fitness mat is just what you’re looking for!

These mats are thicker than a typical yoga mat but are still light and easy to carry like yoga mats are. They are also extremely easy to clean.

    Gym Mats vs. Tiles

To get the best workout, you need something to keep you comfortable and protected from a hard subfloor. Rubber tiles and gym mats will give you all the protection you need. But which one is right for you? Let's compare both options to see what will work best.

    Gym Mats for Exercise

This is a great option if you need something more temporary. These mats can easily be brought out when they are needed and then rolled up and stored away when they aren't in use.

These mats are super versatile too. You can use them for floor workouts and stretching, or you can even put them under exercise equipment to help keep the subfloor protected.

    Gym Tiles for Exercise

This is another temporary solution, but there's a little more to the installation. You can't just throw these tiles down; you'll have to lock them together like you would a puzzle piece.

You can customize these tiles depending on your workout. For instance, if you only need a small space for a quick floor routine, then you can just grab a few tiles and place them down, snap them together and then put them back up when you're finished.

These tiles work great for a more permanent installation in a home workout space or a kid's playroom too.

    Thickness of Gym Mats

When looking at gym mats, it’s important to decide what you’ll be using the mat to do. The type of exercise you’ll be doing on it will help you determine the thickness that you’ll need.

If you only plan to do floor exercises or you need a mat to put under a treadmill or stationary bike, then a ¼” thickness will work great for this.

The best gym flooring mats for higher impact exercises and weight training are 3/8”.

Of course, if you have any questions about what thickness your mat should be, the experts at Rubber Flooring 4U are happy to answer any questions you have.

    How to Install Gym Mats?

Do you consider yourself handy? If you don't, it's no problem at all. That's because installing a gym mat is super easy, even if you don't have great DIY skills.

You can put it down with double-sided tape, glue, or just simply lay it on your subfloor.

    Installation Using Glue

If you plan on keeping your gym mat permanently in place, then you'll want to consider gluing it down.

It's really easy to do if you follow these simple steps:

    • Clean your subfloor and make sure it doesn't have any dirt or debris.

    • Spread the glue on the floor.

    • Roll out the gym mats.

    • If you have any excess rubber, then use a sharp utility knife to cut off the extra material.

    • Use a carpet roller or stomp on the floor to make sure the rubber is stuck in place.

    Installation Using Double Sided Tape

    • Roll out your mat to cover the area you want it to.

    • Use a sharp utility knife to trim off any extra excess.

    • Apply double-sided tape to the perimeter of the roll.

    • Tear off the paper on the tape and then lay the mat down.

    • Wait about an hour for the adhesive to set.

    • Use a carpet roller or stomp on the mat to make sure that it is set correctly.

If you decide to go with tiles, all you have to do is place them in the center of the room and keep locking them together until you've reached the edges. Like with the other installations, you can use a utility knife to trim off the excess.

So, you won’t have to worry about spending a long-time cleaning, and you’ll be able to keep your gym-goers happy with little effort.

    Gym Mats FAQs

At Rubber Flooring 4U, we are happy to answer your questions about our gym mats. Here are some of the questions we get the most:

Why should I use a gym mat?

The main reason to use a gym mat is for protection. These mats will protect your concrete, hardwood, or tile floor from being damaged from heavyweights.

Not only will your floor be protected, but so will your body. Our heavy-duty mats will absorb the impact of falling weights and barbells, so they won't bounce back and cause injuries.

Where can I use gym mats?

One of the great things about gym mats is that they are extremely versatile. You can use them in several places, including free weight areas, underneath machines, or for floor exercises.

What should I use in a large area?

Gym mat rolls are a great way to seamlessly cover a large area.

What are gym mats made of?

Our gym mats are extremely eco-friendly. They are made from recycled tires. So, when you buy rubber mats from us, you're helping to keep thousands of tires out of the landfill.

How to cut rubber gym mats and tiles?

Make sure you have a sharp utility knife, a straight edge, and a pen.

    • Use the pen to mark where you need to cut.

    • Using the straight edge, score the mat with the utility knife, allowing the cut to open up.
